IP cameras are the latest revolution in high performance video surveillance. IP cameras, also known as Network Cameras, are Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras that use Internet Protocol to transmit HD quality image data signals over a Fast Ethernet link. IP cameras are used for surveillance in the same manner as analog closed-circuit television. IP Cameras have higher megapixel image capabilities, which allow a larger and clearer quality image.
In cases of suspicious activity, this allows for further enhancing and zooming into the recorded images to search for clues and evidence when necessary. Video recording can be transmitted through a network and made viewable through an internet link. This allows for 24/7 remote accessibility of images or live video which may be viewed from a computer or mobile device from virtually anywhere. Any number of IP cameras can be deployed together with a network video recorder (NVR) to form a video surveillance system. That extends to multiple locations with no regard to the camera location.
